The King Rat himself, Wisconsin Republican Governor Scott Walker, saw to it that his minions (the 19-Republican State Senators), rammed through in a matter of minutes last night the anti-collective bargaining legislation aimed at nothing less than the destruction of unions. This morning the Wisconsin Assembly simply rubber stamped that legislation and it now goes to the Governor for his signature.

.
Just to put this into some kind of historical context, on May 2, 1933 Adolph Hitler outlawed trade unions.
.
As German Pastor Martin Niemoller stated long ago:
.
“First they came for the communists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a trade unionist.”
.
Now what? We’ve been on a steep and slippery slope EVER since the election of Ronald Reagan. But since 2009, with the rise of the Tea Bagger Movement, we’ve been fast approaching the gates of hell!
.
It’s now high time that progressives bombard Congress with phone calls, particularly to those Democratic legislators representing the State of Wisconsin.
.
CONGRESSIONAL HOTLINE: (202) 225-3121
.
After you make calls to your own Congressional representatives please call the offices of Democratic senators and representatives OTHER than your own, such as Senator Herb Kohl (WI) and Reps. Tammy Baldwin, Ron Kind and Gwen Moore (WI). Make your voice be heard.
.
Phone calls are powerful weapons to be used by an active and informed progressive electorate, especially on issues of profound impact such as this anti-collective bargaining effort that is now well underway by these relentless and blood-thirsty Republicans.
