Missouri Republican Rep. Todd Akin – Vying For The U.S. Senate Seat Now Held By Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill

Apparently, the Republicans not only believe in “De-Evolution” but they obviously have no trouble putting it into practice.

Let’s give a rousing + warm welcome to the latest Republican “Poster Boy” – the mild-mannered looking boy scout from Missouri – Rep. Todd Akin.

.

It seems that Missouri Republican Rep. Todd Akin (not a doctor) likens rape as consisting of two sorts – the “legitimate” kind and (by default) the not-so “legitimate”.  I don’t know if I’m correct, but my interpretation of Rep. Akin’s remarks yesterday is this –  that as long as a woman doesn’t conceive as a result of being raped then there is no real “legitimate” rape at issue.  Huh???

Basically, Rep. Akin dismisses the possibility of a rape victim bearing a child simply by “deducing” that the female body will inherently “shut down” and prevent that event from ever occurring.

And this guy wants to run for and hold office in the U.S. Senate.
