It is becoming ever more clear now, even to the Romney campaign, that any chance of victory for the Republican presidential ticket is rapidly slipping away. The reason, aside from the total and complete ineptitude and just plain overbearing arrogance of Mitt Romney is actually two-fold: a substantial increase in enthusiasm among “likely” Democratic voters since the Democratic convention AND the increased “participation” of independent voters this year as compared to their presence in the 2008 presidential election.
.
In both Ohio and Florida, there is at least an 8% increase among independent “likely” Voters for this year’s presidential election as compared to the 2008 election.
.
To put things in even starker terms for the Romney campaign, the GOP presidential candidate is actually poised to lose his home state, Michigan, by double-digits. That has NEVER happened in U.S. Political History. But hey, if you advocate that GM go “bankrupt”, what the “F” can you expect?
.
Right now, the Huffington Post has Obama leading “Willard” in the Electoral College – 343 votes to 191 votes.
.
I’ve said – ALL ALONG, NOW – that this election will be an absolute “blow-out”. I’ve primarily based that upon the likely electoral college votes the President would receive in November. But now, I’ll go “out on a limb” and ALSO predict that President Obama will have an even larger margin of victory in the Popular Vote in 2012 than he did over John McCain in 2008.
.
It will be a total “romp” by Team Obama. The Rethugs are going to have to go back and completely “retool” over the next four years or they will become an irrelevant force in national politics for a long, long time.
.
And as Bill Clinton remarked yesterday about an Obama second term, it will be a completely different ball game in the U.S. Congress. They will not be able to “gum” up the works on a second-term president who has no re-election constraints to deal with. It’ll be “shake, rattle and roll”. If it takes presidential vetoes, executive orders or “signing” orders – things will get DONE!
..
As Lee Iacocca (former Chairman of Chrysler) once said, “Lead, Follow Or Get Out Of The Way”.
.
Game, Set, Match – to Obama!
