In my recent post I predicted Obama would win BOTH Ohio and Florida. I believe I will be fully vindicated in that regard. And I have a healthy dose of schadenfreude right now – unabashedly so.
.
As for Ohio, true to form, at around 8:15-p.m. last night – OHIO – pushed Obama passed the 270 electoral vote threshold. Oregon preceded it with 7 votes to put Obama at 256 electoral votes. A mere 2-minutes later MSNBC broadcast that OHIO had given its “18” electoral votes to Obama to put the President at 274 electoral college votes – 4 more than required to secure his re-election.
.
Re-elected for the 2nd time! The feeling in the room at Democratic Campaign Headquarters on 2nd Street in San Rafael was total triumph. The champagne started flowing immediately.
.
Going back to Florida, there were people still standing in line to vote well past midnight last night. Florida’s 29-electoral votes (which Obama will most likely capture as Obama has a 45,000 vote lead over Romney with 99% of the vote in) will ultimately put the President’s final electoral college vote at 332 – a real thumping over Romney – considering all of the NEFARIOUS circumstances surrounding this entire election.
.
“Willard” won only one really big state – TEX-ASS – and then somehow he got “lucky” and plucked another mid-size one, North Carolina.
.
Otherwise, Obama simply “ran the table” on the guy from Missed-Again (Michigan) – he’s just the right height – the right skin color – and has the right plastic smile.
.
America overwhelmingly revealed its new face last night and it simply does not bode well for the REPUBLI-CONS. They are a party wedded to the SOUTH and for the life of me I can’t fathom what their justification is for continued “existence.”
.
History is passing them by, they will go the way of the Whig Party which disappeared in 1854. Older white guys, all talking to empty chairs or empty air or empty stares. God Damn them. They’re still clogging up the House of Representatives. They need to be fumigated out of existence.
.
We might be one nation but we sure as hell have a split personality, bordering on bipolarity in the body politic.
