It looks like the Debt Ceiling deadline will ensue earlier than anticipated – around mid-February.  Even though the White House does not subscribe to the theory that the 14th Amendment empowers the President to ignore the Debt Ceiling, both Nancy Pelosi/House Minority Leader and Harry Reid/Senate Leader have unequivocally called for the President to invoke Section 4 of the 14th Amendment (debts incurred by the U.S. “shall not be questioned”.

The last thing this nation needs is another credit rating downgrade.  We have a rogue Congress (House of Reps) that must be extinguished come 2014.  Unless we want to see our entire society seriously degraded, President Obama better govern like a President who was re-elected with a broad majority of the voting public.  This entire scenario is all about power and Mr. President it is time to exercise yours. The GOP is not interested in governing, they are only interested in transferring government’s power and authority over to the private/corporate sector.  The GOP must go the way of the Whig Party.

As for the Tea Party, it can rail all it wants against Big Government but most of its members are direct beneficiaries of Big Government (Social Security + Medicare) and if you take a meat clever to those two programs your Tea Party vanishes over night.

Personally, if we legalized marijuana nationally, your Tea Party adherents might be better adjusted overall just by imbibing in a Doobie, now + then.
