TIME TO DEFANG (THE TEA PARTY) – NOT DEFUND (SEQUESTRATION)

On March 1, 2013, barring any agreement on budget cuts/revenue increases, the Defense Dept. and entitlement programs are going to take a huge hit in spending cuts.

The Tea Party has run out of rope and they’ll end up hanging themselves by their insane intransigence.  Honey, we shrunk the government  – (and the economy along with it, idiots).

The Tea Party and the GOP for that matter will not even consider new revenue options in any budget balancing scenario.  The T’s will be more than happy to let the clock run out and force draconian cuts in government spending irregardless of whether those cuts serve any useful purpose or whether they will severely impede our nation’s economic progress.

If any thing needs sequestering it is not the budget but the nattering nabobs of nonsense masquerading as modern-day patriots, i.e. T-Party adherents.

If  Republican House Speaker John Boehner has any brains left in him at all he’ll opt to put the Senate’s version of budget cuts up for a vote in the House and figure on enough Republicans to join 185-190 Democrats to push this puppy over the top.

The House on its own is very unlikely to initiate anything – in this regard – that would even approximate real-world legislation.

The economy grew at a negative rate in the 4th quarter of last year in large part because of steep spending reductions in the Pentagon budget.  More of the same is likely come March 1st should these mad-hatter patriots in the GOP succeed in gumming up the works.

Insane extremism is rampant in the GOP in general; the most recent case in point is Republican Senator Lindsey Graham’s (S.C.) intention to actually block the nomination process of both Chuck Hagel for Defense Secretary and John Brennan for CIA Director.  His beef:  He wants President Obama to come clean on what really occurred in the Benghazi attack on the U.S. Embassy back in September.

The real sequester is the GOP/T-Party conglomerate.  They have cut themselves off from reality.  Now, that’s a sequester that is truly worthy of the concept of “sequestration”.

The Tea Party should be strait-jacketed and fast – either by Karl Rove’s PAC committees or the Democrats starting in earnest NOW to run hard-assed candidates against the current crop of uber-patriot wack-jobs in their own districts.
