The GOP are no better than fucking grave robbers. In Wisconsin, Michigan & North Carolina they attempted or are attempting to severely strip the power of the duly-elected democratic governor in those respective states.

The GOP-dominant legislatures in these states have thumbed their collective noses at the popular vote in those states – wherein Democrats were/have been installed asgovernor – only to be thwarted by GOP midnight legislation designed to stifle or thwart the ability of the newly-elected Democratic governor to exercise their legally-obtained power via the ballot box.

Whether it’s the governor’s right to appoint the State Board Of Election members, or stripping away the power of the Democratic state attorney general ‘s ability to handle cases wherein state law is under attack from third-party, outside litigants or to allow for adequate early voting leading up to elections, the GOP is rigging the political system to counter their losses of the governor’s mansion at the ballot box.

In Wisconsin, Republicans aim to limit early voting, change the date of the state’s presidential primary to help a conservative member of the Wisconsin Supreme Court win re-election, limit the governor’s ability to make certain appointments and block Gov.-elect Tony Evers from eliminating a state economic development agency.

Another bill would overhaul the state’s elections boards, the latest in a long series of steps Republicans have taken to alter the voting process in the state, many of which have been turned back by federal courts. Other steps would slash currently required environmental reports and reduce regulation elsewhere.

In Michigan, under Governor Rick Snyder, the Michigan legislature has taken it upon themselves to insert the legislature into the attorney general’s office by crafting legislation that allows for the legislature to intervene in cases where the state is being sued by third parties/outside interests. In addition, against the wishes of the voters of Michigan who approved of a ballot measure to raise the minimum wage and allow for more generous sick leave, the Michigan GOP-dominated legislature decide otherwise and instead moved to undo the will of the voters of Michigan!

In all states, the GOP was and is acting contrary to the popular will of the people who elected a Democrat as governor!

In North Carolina in December-2016, the GOP-dominated legislature acted to thwart the victory of newly-elected democratic governor, Roy Cooper, by signifcantly scaling back his power of appoints to various governmental agencies such as the State Elections Board, The Superintendent of Education and a host of other areas.

In total, the legislation in during this time – (Dec.-2016) – was designed to reduce the number of appointments opportunities available to the new Democratic Governor, Roy Cooper, to a total of a mere 300, a steep reduction in contrast to the 1,500 appointments that were available to his immediate predecessor, the former Republican governor – Pat McCrory.

All-in-all – these 3 states starkly sketch our the brazen and shameless ploys that the GOP is more than willing to undertake to “manhandle” democracy that has been won at the ballot box.

Grave robbing is the only way to characterize the GOP’s despicable behavior. They can’t win fair & square at the ballot box. So, in the dead of night – as in Wisconsin and Michigan – or – as in North Carolina — where a governor typically calls a special session— the North Carolina legislators – used an obscure legislative maneuver to call themselves back into a “special” to pass measures designed to illegitimately hamstring the newly-elected democratic governor.

Thank God for Bob Mueller, because these shenanigans – along with the REMOVAL of Donald J. Trump + Mike Pence – in the not-too-distant future – will serve as a kibosh on Republican Thugocracy – as they will find the 2020 election season way more unfriendly to their underhandedness than the 2016 election cycle.
