28-year old African-American Sandra Bland was stopped for a routine traffic violation in Waller County, Texas, a county with a history of racial tension.  Apparently she failed to use her turn signal to indicate a lane change.  Reportedly she had a history of depression and drugs.

.

On July 10, 2015, 28 year old Sandra Bland was arrested and charged with assaulting a public servant.  She was taken to Waller Co Jail; three days later she was found in her cell dead from what officials called suicide.  Both the FBI and the Texas Rangers launched investigations trying to find out what happened.

.

The following is from the Rolling Stone Magazine of July 24, 2015 in an article written by Matt Taibbi, “Sandra Bland Murdered – Suicide Or Not, Police Responsible for Sandra Bland’s Death”.

Suddenly even hardcore law and order enthusiasts are realizing that the criminal code is so broad and littered with so many tiny technical prohibitions that a determined enough police officer can stop and arrest pretty much anybody at any time.

.

Bland was on her way to a new job at Prairie A&M University when she was pulled over for failing to signal when changing lanes, something roughly 100% of American drivers do on regular basis.  Irritated for being stopped she was curt with Officer Brian Encina when he wrote her up.  He didn’t like her attitude and decided to flex his muscles a little, asking her to put out her cigarette.

.

She balked, that’s when things went sideways.  Officer Encina demanded that she get out of the car and when she did not comply he reached for his Taser and said, “I’ll light you up”.  He eventually transported her back to the police station where she was put in jail.

.

Texas Department of Safety ruled that Officer Brian Encina, the arresting officer, notwithstanding the fact that he pulled Sandra Bland from her car and threatened her with a Taser, had merely violated the state’s “courtesy policy.”   Texas said there is “no evidence” yet of criminal behavior by Officer Encina

.

Bottom line:  Perhaps women need to carry tasers in their car to keep the police honest!

The billionaire recently attacked another GOP Presidential candidate – Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, an Air Force veteran, who called on Trump to drop out of the race.

In Trumps words:

“He put glasses on so people will think he’s smart,” he said to laughs.

And it just doesn’t work, you know, people can see through the glasses.”

.

Trump called out Perry as a “hypocrite!” in an Instagram post Wednesday that showed the two men meeting at Trump’s office last cycle (2012) when Perry ran for president. Trump said Perry was “playing nice and begging for my support and money.”

.

The Donald Even went after yet another GOP Presidential contender, Lindsey Graham, saying he’s probably not as smart as Rick Perry – which after poking fun @ Rick Perry 4 wearing glasses 2 try & appear “smart” – is a full-throated effort 2 completely marginalize Graham as a candidate.

.

The DONALD is making noises about running as a 3rd party candidate – like Ross Perot did in 1992. Back then, George Herbert Walker Bush was the president and running for re-election and Perot torpedoed any chance he had for returning to the White House.

.

The Donald is the master of his own destiny and very much the captain of his own fate. It is the GOP that is in mastery of absolutely nothing and the captain of complete chaos.

16 GOP candidates are running for president and the landscape is already littered with corpses. Donald Trump couldn’t have picked a better time to run for President. He will squeeze out every advantage in this free-for-all on the GOP side to extract whatever mileage he can out of this whole exercise and a run for the White House as a 3rd party candidate is a distinct possibility!

Let’s face it, the Iranian nuclear arms deal reached on Tuesday between the Islamic Republic Of Iran and the U.S., England, France, Germany, China & Russia is already being heralded as “epic”.

.

It leaves in place the U.S. arms embargo and constrains Iran from further nuclear arms development for 10 years.

.

Additionally, Iran will have to allow for military inspections by the outside world at any site requested by the inspection team.

.

On the face of it, Iran is locked inside a bottle with regards to its nuclear program with all avenues of escape sealed off completely.

.

But that won’t stop Congress and John Boehner & Mitch McConnell & The GOP from finding “some” defect or loophole to justify outright rejection of this agreement.

.

The operative word here is “Agreement”. This is not a treaty (which would require the approval of both houses of Congress). Instead, this deal is technically an “Agreement”. Congress’ role is limited to attempting to override a presidential veto and President Obama has already indicated he will definitely veto any legislative meddling by Congress knowing full well that his veto will more than likely hold up as he only needs a handful of Senators to stand with him to deny the GOP the necessary 2/3 vote to override his veto.

Gay Marriage upheld by the Supreme Court.

Obamacare upheld by the Supreme Court.

Re-establishment of relations with Cuba a reality, with the U.S. opening up an embassy in Cuba and Cuba doing likewise in our nation’s capitol, Washington, D.C.

South Carolina’s State Senate Voted 36-3 To Take Down The Confederate Flag From The State House today.

Now The Bill Goes To The Lower House Who Will Immediately Bring The Matter Up For Debate Tomorrow.

The South Carolina House of Representatives voted 93 to 18 to send the Flag Bill directly to the floor and bypass committee.

.

Sen. Kimpson told CNN “I’m told that was the vote to bypass committee so now it goes to the floor for 2nd reading which is where the debate will take place.”  The House has adjourned for the day and will reconvene at 10 a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday.
