It seems that the Republican “Slug” running for governor in Texas this Fall (Greg Abbott – Texas Attorney General) has no qualms about welcoming the support of nut-case ex-rocker Ted Nugent – with open arms.  This, in spite of Nugent’s public declaration that President Obama was nothing more than a “subhuman mongrel”.  (As rightly pointed out by, of all people, Wolf Blitzer, in his interview with Newt Gingrich on CNN today, the term subhuman mongrel was well utilized by the 3rd Reich in Nazi Germany).

What is there more to say?  The point is patently obvious.  You’re running for the highest office in the nation’s second most populous state (Texas) and you can summon up the balls to openly embrace and actively solicit the support of someone like Ted Nugent who utters phrases like that indicated above as easily as breathing in and out!!!

In point of fact, there’s no better illustration of the irony surrounding this turn of events than the old saying, “the pot calling the kettle black”.  If there is anything that exemplifies the subhuman mongrel genre you would be hard pressed to find a better object for that than Ted Nugent and the present-day Republican Party and its entire Raison d’être.

House Speaker John Boehner folded the tent on trying to extract concessions from President Obama by withholding GOP support for the debt ceiling hike.  It was a long and useless charade from start to finish.  The GOP (Grumpy Old People) doesn’t have any cards left to play with on anything.  They’re a minority party catering strictly to angry old white people.  Fuck’em!  They’ll go the way of the Edsel, the rotary phone & black + white tv.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner (OH) caved in to reality and allowed the floor vote to raise the nation’s debt ceiling today, 223-201.  193 Democrats voted in favor while only 28 Republicans joined in.

.

Boehner and Republican Majority Leader, Eric Cantor (VA), also voted “yea”.  The “Boner-Man” then had the nerve to blame the final passage of the debt ceiling measure on President Obama who would not cooperate with the House GOP’s extortion tactics involving cutbacks in Obamacare in exchange for their vote on increasing the nation’s debt limit.  The Obama Administration was long on record as stipulating that there would be no concessions granted to the GOP in exchange for a debt ceiling hike.

For now, Boehner and his GOP cohorts are just going to do absolutely nothing until the mid-term elections in November and then run on the simple platform that – based on what is already self-evident to everyone – government doesn’t work because it doesn’t get anything done.  Well, John, the reason that is so is because your party of misfits (GOP) simply refuses to act on or push for any legislation or judicial confirmation for that matter.  You can call the GOP Speaker, Dr. No.

For all practical purposes the GOP is a nihilistic party good for nothing and standing for nothing.  They are simply acting like those 300 Greek warriors at Thermopylae Pass who held off 1-million Persians.  The GOP, unlike the mighty band of “300” is not acting to save democracy or advance enlightenment but merely to shore up and solidify the ever-increasing entrenchment of the uber-wealthy and stratospheric elite.

2014 and 2016 are going to usher in a changing of the guard such that the GOP of today will be dismembered to the point where its national presence will give way to a strictly regional role.  Time to dust off the old Whig Party (“No Broken Promises Since 1857”).

New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie’s Administration’s lane closures on the George Washing Bridge back in September are more than likely going to stick a fork in his Presidential aspirations!  David Wildstein, the fired Port Authority official in charge of bridge operations, came out this week and said that Christie was very aware of the closure operations, contrary to what Christie indicated in his recent two-hour press conference.

Ft. Lee, New Jersey Mayor Mark Sokolich, appearing on CNN recently, claimed that the lane closings, in hindsight, has all of the earmarks of a political retaliation for his non-endorsement of Christie in his gubernatorial re-election campaign in 2013.

The recent disclosure by Dawn Zimmer, the mayor of Hoboken, New Jersey that Governor Christie’s office (via the Lieutenant Governor, Kim Guadagno) pressured her to back an urban renewal project in close proximity to Hoboken (Rockefeller Group development deal) in exchange for Hurricane Sandy flood funds would seem to corroborate Ft. Lee Mayor Sokolich‘s accusation against the Christie administration.

Suffice it to say that early on in Gov. Christie’s first term he instructed his aides to draw up file folders with very detailed information on the mayors of 100 New Jersey cities, information such as their pet projects, their respective enemies and friends.  Christie knew where to find a needle in a haystack in New Jersey politics.  His reputation for personally approving legislation or filling state government positions was legendary and well known.

We have banks that are so big that, in a sense, they are too big to fail.  Perhaps in the case of Chris Christie, we have someone who is too big to fall.  (ok, ok, I couldn’t resist a little snarky humor here!)  Chris Christie has stepped into this swamp of corruption on his own volition and has only made it bigger, murkier and more pervasive, even by New Jersey standards.

The coup de grâce was this week’s Super Bowl festivities in New Jersey where Gov. Christie appeared in public to officially send off the next Super Bowl to Arizona.  As soon as he began his remarks the chorus of boos from the crowd were very self-evident.

Christie now finds himself like Gulliver did with the Lilliputians.  Although a large figure compared to the 6-inch tall Lilliputians, Gulliver was subdued by the diminutive Lilliputians.  (Gulliver lies down on the grass to rest, and soon he falls asleep. When he wakes up, he finds that his arms, legs, and long hair have been tied to the ground with pieces of thread.)

In a word, Governor Chris Christie is akin to a beached whale (ha-ha) at this moment and you can put the kibosh on his presidential aspirations, once and for all.  (Sorry, David & Charles Koch!)
