THE SCORPION AND THE FROG

The turtle man (GOP Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell-KY) unloaded on the T-Party yesterday, basically calling them juvenile no-nothing dunderheads led around by the nose at the hand of big money interests.

.

In a sense that’s sort of like the pot calling the kettle black.  That aptly sums up the standard operating procedure used by most mainstream Republican candidates to corral their potential voting block.

.

Another area of similarity is the use of race in political campaigns.  The T-Party is just way more upfront.  Racism has long played a central role in GOP election strategy but no more so than with the rise of the T-Party movement in 2010.

.

But the similarities between these two groups is not enough to delay the all but inevitable internecine war already under way between these two wings of the GOP.  The Senate Conservative Fund has the senior GOP Senator & Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) in their sights as he embarks on his re-election efforts in the 2014 U.S. Senate race back in Kentucky.  T-Party gadfly Sarah Palin has also weighed-in on the 2014 race calling for McConnell’s ouster.

McConnell himself sponsored the very election of fellow Kentuckian and T-Party acolyte Rand Paul to the U.S. Senate back in 2010 and now his nobles oblige is being rewarded by that same T-Party much the same way as befell the frog who ferried the scorpion across the river on his back.

.

In this well known fable, the frog said to the scorpion how do I know you won’t sting me during the crossing and the scorpion said that would only cause us both to drown.  Of course, halfway across the river the spider stung the frog and when the frog asked why, the scorpion replied:  “I could not help myself.  It is my nature.”  And they both sank into the water and drowned.

The above scenario will soon be played out in countless other congressional districts all across this country between now and November 2014 as conservative/moderate GOP congressional office holders who had lent a hand to fledgling T-Party congressional candidates  in 2010 will themselves be stabbed in the back by that wing of the party.

The T-Party is the scorpion and the GOP is the frog.  GOP take note.  From the T-Party’s vantage point, your goose is cooked!  It’s just in our nature!

Dragging their feet on (1) setting up insurance exchanges in their respective states even though such required funding is 95% guaranteed and supplied by the federal government and (2) snuffing out voter participation with artificial constraints designed only to stifle voting and (3) lastly rendering a women’s right to an abortion as nothing more than a mere abstract exercise will all, in combination, propel the 21st century GOP into utter oblivion in the face of the overwhelming changing demographics that are heavily weighted in favor of Democratic Party affiliation.

The impetus for the Tea-Party phenomenon is for the most part fueled by the still-lingering embers of the Southern Confederacy and the bible-strewn small towns littering this section of our nation that still insist on casting out those demons of the modern nation-state that dares to empower individuals with the full trappings of individual rights and choices.

.

The South had its share of snake-oil charlatans in the 19th Century and it continues today with the Tea Party Express.  The Koch Brothers are the new southern-based snake oil salesmen par excellence, single-handedly fueling the Tea Bagger Movement but they are fighting a losing battle with history, demographics and the human capacity to transform our species into higher levels of existence.

The folks beating the drum for a return to the “Dukes of Hazard” will shortly run into the biggest dose of whoop-ass this country has ever seen, starting now and lasting through 2014.  Starting with formerly mild-mannered Senate Leader Harry Reid and on down to GOP Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s Democratic opponent in Kentucky in November 2014 [Alison Lundergan Grimes] along with the current Democratic candidate for governor in Virginia (Terry McAuliffe), the Democrats are according themselves as the kicking donkeys that is the very trademark of the party.

Harry Reid is faced with an intransigent GOP over judicial appointees to the D.C. Circuit Court (2nd highest court in the land only below the Supreme Court) by McConnell & Co who threaten to filibuster any nominees submitted by President Obama.  The decimation of the filibuster procedure with regards to judicial nominees will have to be undertaken by Reid to allow for the appointment of President Obama’s 3 nominees to fill the three (3) long-standing vacancies currently on this court.  Meanwhile, down in Kentucky, Democrat candidate for U.S. Senate Alison Grimes has out-raised Mitch McConnell since July, 2013 by taking in $2.5 million in contributions, her campaign announced recently.  Also, In the Virginia governor’s race tomorrow (Tuesday), Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe is comfortably leading the GOP gubernatorial candidate Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.  Repubs beware, you’re in for a real skull-thumping, ass-kicking starting now and lasting all the way through 2014!

Democratic candidates in general will start to peel back the heretofore GOP dominance in the Dixie Belt and/or its overall effect within the halls of Congress and thus take the last bite out of the gasping-for-breath Republican Party and their fucked-up “Southern-Strategy” (a base appeal to poor Southern Whites) first unleashed in the 1968 presidential campaign of Richard Milhous Nixon.  For all practical purposes the GOP and the South are interchangeable.  When you talk about the GOP base, you are essentially referring to the Land of Dixie!

The gloves are off.  It will be a pincer movement, with Republican businessmen on the right going after Tea-Party office holders and Democratic candidates doing likewise from the other side of the political spectrum.  This blog writer is not predicting Democrats will once more gain control of the House of Representatives in 2014 but they will have made huge inroads in the Southern wing of this country for not only this election cycle but for election cycles to come.

No, the South ain’t gonna rise again but it just may finally be fully-reintegrated into the Union and not continue to stand outside Appomatox in open defiance.

In the wake of the utterly disastrous GOP-triggered government shut-down there are now upwards of 37 GOP congressional seats up for grabs by Democratic candidates in the November-2014 off-year elections, way more than enough to bring the House of Representatives back under Democratic control and under the tight control of Madam Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.  How’s that for a “Reversal of Fortune” for you?  Something about “Pride Goeth Before The Fall”.

Let’s thank the human wrecking ball, GOP Tea-Party nutbag Ted Cruz (Missile) of Tex-Ass.  No less a GOP luminary than Richard Viguerie (see below), the creator of the modern-day political campaign direct mail blitz – circa 1970’s – declared this week that there will be a real blood bath within the GOP come November 2014.

I listened this morning to a replay of the Commonwealth Club segment featuring Chris Matthews – MSBNC host of “Hard Ball” – in which Mr. Matthews remarked that GOP House Leader John Boehner was just a regular small town/main street Republican bedeviled with Tea Party crazies.  What he left out is the part where Boehner Man ceded his powers as Speaker of the House and helped usher in the disastrous shut-down knowing full well there was little or no chance of any measurable scale-back of Obamacare.  In short, Boehner proved himself as nothing more than a very flaccid House member in a time when big-time, adult-like action was called for.

Yes, it’s all tumbling down now for the Republican House members for having placed all of their hopes for the dismantlement of Obamacare on nothing more than sand.  Now that the tide has swept back in – a tide of overwhelming across-the-board voter disapproval and disgust of the GOP as the primary culprit in the shut-down – the Party of Lincoln looks more like the Donner Party!

The GOP – as a party – cratered last night as it threw in the towel and endured the mother of all whoop-ass defeats by coming out on the short-end of the government shut-down sturm & drang fiasco!

John Boehner & Co. have dug themselves into the Grand Canyon with their incredible 16-day suicide mission against Obamacare. Their party (GOP) is BEYOND redemption!!!

Boehner is the master “boner”! Warning: If spotted, do not attempt to apprehend but instead call the nearest law enforcement agency. He is considered “unarmed” but clueless (which makes him all the more dangerous).

There’s simply no nice way to put this.  GOP House Speaker John Boehner (OH) lost on all accounts in his party’s quest to keep the government shut-down until Obamacare could be scaled back by the GOP.

.

After two-weeks of government shut down costing around $20-billion and coming right up to the debt default precipice (October 17th) the Tea Party-inspired insurrection by the House of Representatives to bring this country to its knees accomplished a total of:    some additional wording making the income verification requirements for Obamacare a little more rigorous.  Wow!  Look, honey, I shrunk the government and got bupkus in return!!

Aside from this additional wording the House and Senate will both vote tonight to re-open the government until January 15th and keep the debt ceiling increase operational until February 7th.

.

President Obama got exactly what he demanded all along and nothing less.  But in addition, he actually got something “more”.  Language was inserted into the legislation to re-open the government requiring the House of Representatives to come up with their own budget (the Senate already formulated one this past Spring) no later than Friday, December 13th.

GOP House Speaker John Boehner – after all sorts of legislative trial balloons to inflict damage to Obamacare simply got “Boner’d” by his own Tea Party caucus who should’ve known all along that the chances of derailing Obamacare at this juncture were nonexistent.
